Hormone Therapy: Step-by-Step

Step 1

Fertility Check

Our comprehensive fertility analysis encompasses techniques like ultrasound, semen analysis, and diagnostic blood tests. Employing cutting-edge laboratory technology, we deliver optimal outcomes, laying the foundation for your treatment plan.

Step 2

Kick-Off Hormone Therapy

Treatment often starts between the 3rd and 5th day following the start of your period. Hormones are typically self-administered or administered with assistance from your partner on a daily basis.

Step 3

Ongoing Monitoring

Starting around day 8 of your cycle, your specialist will track follicle development through ultrasound and blood tests. Should natural ovulation be absent, it will be encouraged using an hCG injection.

Step 4

Timed Intercourse

Following ovulation, your doctor will guide you on the best timing for intercourse to maximise fertilisation chances.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Explore the most frequently asked questions about hormone therapy at Cada. If you have further inquiries, please feel free to contact us.

When is hormone therapy advised for those wishing to conceive?

Icon

Hormone therapy is often recommended for couples or individuals struggling with natural conception. It is particularly helpful in cases of hormonal imbalances and issues with egg maturation, aiming to enhance the chances of successful pregnancy.

What does hormone therapy entail for conception purposes?

Icon

At Cada, hormone therapy follows a structured four-step process:

  1. Fertility Check: Our comprehensive fertility analysis encompasses techniques like ultrasound, semen analysis, and diagnostic blood tests. Employing cutting-edge laboratory technology, we deliver optimal outcomes, laying the foundation for your treatment plan.

  2. Kick-Off Hormone Treatment: Treatment often starts between the 3rd and 5th day following the start of your period. Hormones are typically self-administered or administered with assistance from your partner on a daily basis.

  3. Ongoing Monitoring: Starting around day 8 of your cycle, your specialist will track follicle development through ultrasound and blood tests. Should natural ovulation be absent, it will be encouraged using an hCG injection.

  4. Timed intercourse: Following ovulation, your doctor will guide you on the best timing for intercourse to maximise fertilisation chances.

Which hormones are used and how do they work?

Icon

Hormone treatment uses hormones like gonadotropins to foster egg maturation, with LH and FSH facilitating ovulation, and hCG encouraging the mature follicle to release the egg. These treatments aim to support and enhance the natural reproductive process, boosting the likelihood of pregnancy.

How much does hormone therapy cost?

Icon

The costs for hormone therapy vary depending on the fertility clinic and are dependent on individual factors. At Cada, we only offer fixed costs, where all necessary medication, analyses, and consultations are already included in the overall price of hormone treatment. We will be happy to advise you on the exact costs during a free consultation, in which we can also inform you about the various financing options.

How do we determine if hormone therapy is a suitable approach?

Icon

The decision for hormone therapy is made based on individual circumstances, following a thorough fertility analysis. At Cada, our experts consider hormone levels, ovulation patterns, and other reproductive factors to tailor the therapy, thereby enhancing pregnancy success rates.

What are the prerequisites for undergoing hormone therapy?

Icon

Eligibility for hormone therapy includes a precise fertility evaluation, regular menstrual cycles, functional fallopian tubes, and an adequate egg reserve. Specialists will then determine the treatment's suitability and customise it to the patient's unique needs.

How does hormone therapy affect the menstrual cycle?

Icon

Hormone therapy can alter the menstrual cycle, regulating or sometimes disrupting normal patterns to control egg maturation and ovulation. These effects are closely monitored by our specialists to optimise treatment outcomes.

What information is provided before starting hormone therapy?

Icon

If you have decided to undergo hormone therapy, you will first have a comprehensive consultation with one of our specialists. During this consultation, the exact course of treatment will be explained. This includes treatment procedures, potential risks, side effects, and medication instructions, ensuring well-informed, prepared patients.

Are there risks or side effects with hormone therapy?

Icon

While hormone therapy is generally safe, potential risks and side effects may include allergic reactions, swelling, mood fluctuations, and ovarian hyperstimulation. It is important to emphasise that there are potential side effects with any medical procedure. that Our commitment to transparency ensures patients are fully informed of these possibilities before beginning treatment.

How long does hormone therapy take?

Icon

The duration of hormone treatment can vary and depends on the specific type of treatment and individual medical circumstances. As a rule, a cycle extends over several weeks to months. In principle, it can be said that hormone treatment lasts until the goal is achieved - which could be the onset of pregnancy, the end of treatment or the transition to another method such as IUI. Our specialists will share the expected duration of your personalised treatment with you once the necessary fertility checks have taken place.

Can hormone therapy be managed alongside daily activities?

Icon

Yes, hormone treatment is generally compatible with everyday life. Most hormone medications can be taken in the comfort of your own home and the injections are generally uncomplicated. It is possible to maintain a normal daily routine during treatment. Nevertheless, it is crucial to attend your doctor's appointments to ensure that the treatment progresses.

What steps are taken if hormone therapy does not lead to pregnancy?

Icon

If pregnancy does not occur despite hormone treatment, a comprehensive evaluation is carried out in our fertility practice. At this point, it is of great importance to carry out a precise fertility analysis of both partners in order to be able to continue with the fertility treatment in a result-oriented manner. In close cooperation with our specialists, individual adjustments are made, alternative reproductive technologies such as IUI are discussed and an individual treatment plan is developed. At Cada, we attach great importance to empathetic support. That's why our specialists are there to support you throughout your fertility treatment.
